Back cutting is a precision machining process that modifies the engagement dogs on your Harley-Davidson transmission gears with a slight negative angle, allowing the gears to lock together more securely under load. Our Pro-Street Cut is designed for every day riders and high-performance street bikes, delivering smoother, more positive shifts while maintaining durability for everyday riding. For dedicated drag racers, our Drag-Race Cut is engineered for maximum engagement and strength under extreme acceleration and high horsepower conditions. For riders pushing their Harley-Davidson baggers on the track, our Road Race Cut is optimized for consistent, precise shifting during aggressive cornering and sustained high-speed use. Each option is developed from decades of real-world racing experience, ensuring your transmission is matched to your riding style and performance goals.

Yes. In addition to Harley-Davidson Big Twin transmissions, we also back cut Harley-Davidson Sportster transmissions. Every transmission receives the same attention to detail and precision machining that Simon Motorsports is known for.

Absolutely. Simply remove the transmission cassette assembly from your transmission case and send it to us. We will perform our complete back-cut and transmission setup service using your existing gears.

If you prefer not to use your original transmission, we also stock brand-new OEM Harley-Davidson transmissions that can be professionally prepared and shipped ready for installation.

We have trusted this oil for years because of its exceptional protection, smooth shifting characteristics, and proven durability under extreme conditions. In fact, it is the same transmission oil we use in our world-record-setting Harley-Davidson FLH Bagger.

If inspection reveals worn or damaged components that require replacement, those parts and any additional labor will be discussed with you before any repairs are performed.

If your transmission has broken or damaged components, we will completely disassemble and inspect the transmission before providing a detailed estimate for any additional parts or repairs.

No additional work is performed without your approval. You’ll receive a complete quote before we proceed.

Go to our “downloads” page and print out a “work order”. Please fill out the work order very clearly with all of the correct information. It’s very important for us to receive clear and correct information in order for us to process your order quickly. Pack your transmission “cassette“ assembly carefully with lots of good quality packing material. Shipping companies tend to be very rough with packages and things do happen in shipping.  The best practice is to packet extremely well to help prevent that damage. We like to look at it this way, “after you pack your transmission in a box, could you dump it off the back of a pick up truck 4-5 times without causing any damage to the parts inside?” While that’s only an illustration, it demonstrates how securely your transmission should be packaged. If you can pack your transmission cassette assembly like that, there is a good chance it will survive any issues while being shipped to us. We have special boxes sized specifically for the transmission in which we also use expandable foam packs on the top and bottom of the transmission completely isolating it for its return shipment back to you.

If you’re serious about drag racing, our Drag Race Back Cut is "THE" best investment you can make in your transmission. It is specifically engineered to maximize gear engagement and holding strength under the extreme shock loads created by high-horsepower launches and aggressive shifting. Unlike many companies, our designs weren’t developed in a laboratory—they were developed at the racetrack. With more than three decades of Harley-Davidson drag racing experience, multiple championships, and world-record-setting performances, every refinement has been tested, proven, and validated under the harshest conditions imaginable.

When performance matters most, there’s no substitute for real-world experience.

Our typical turnaround time is 2 to 3 days from the time we receive your transmission. Turnaround time will also depend on what you are actually having done to your transmission and whether or not additional parts or services may be needed. Outside circumstances may change your turnaround time along with holidays and our racing schedule. We pride ourselves on super fast shipping and excellent service.
